It's Getting Chilly Here.
Back after a Michigan run.
I’m back.
I apologize for the hiatus. I have tried to make this an everyday exercise - and it probably could be a much easier exercise to do if traveling were made easier for me, but during this last run.. it was tight on time and space.
Nevertheless, I’m back home and have a little more room to think and breathe.
Before I moved to Nashville, I had a band in Michigan with Jackson Smith and James MacPhee as the primary other two in the lineup called Zachariah Malachi & The Hillbilly Executives. The name was supposed to be just a juxtaposition. Hillbilly = unrefined / Executive = boss. We got to do a lot of fun gigs together, some traveling and the music we made was good.
This past weekend, adding drummer Helmut Robison to the mix along with my buddy Dakota Holden on Pedal Steel, we made a nice little November Great Lakes trip - and as much as it was completely exhausting, it was fun.
We did a Wyandotte show on Wednesday night. That was primarily to knock the cobwebs off and get back into the swing of playing together. Thursday, we were in Royal Oak at the Bowlero. Friday at Sabby’s in St. Clair Shores. Saturday on Beaver Island and Sunday at Gusoline Alley in Royal Oak. A could of these places have some significance to the band, but a couple were nice spots to fill the trip. All were special in their own way, and it was super nice to see some familiar, friendly faces after a long time away.
But I’m back in the swing of it all. It’s getting chilly here.
